QUALCOMM AND RENAULT GROUP TO EXTEND COLLABORATION AND BRING THE LATEST DIGITAL ADVANCEMENTS TO NEXT GENERATION VEHICLES WITH THE SNAPDRAGON DIGITAL CHASSIS

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Renault Group today announced the companies’ intentions to expand their collaboration to digitally transform automotive experiences. With the aim to build a next-generation architecture that focuses on extensible and flexible vehicle architectures that are focused on addressing the evolving consumer and enterprise customer expectations, Renault Group will work with Qualcomm Technologies to leverage the Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ to equip upcoming Renault vehicles with the latest connected and intelligent solutions for its next generation vehicles.

With the rapidly evolving automotive landscape, automakers are developing new car architectures that require a harmonized approach across high performance system-on-chip processors, software-defined platforms, intelligent and satellite sensors stitched together through a common services platform implementation. These architectures allow for:

> Automotive Connectivity including 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, vehicle-to-everything (V2X), precise positioning and power line communications

> Digital cockpit and visualization that changes the consumers interaction and experience within the vehicle

> All tiers of driver assistance, from L1 to L2+, including vision perception and drive policy with a focus on cost, modularity and re-usability across all vehicle tiers

> A Car2Cloud services platform to enable device-level feature management, over-the-air updates, SIM connectivity and subscription services

The Snapdragon Digital Chassis is comprised of these open and scalable cloud-connected platforms designed for automotive telematics and connectivity, digital cockpit, as well as driver assistance, and utilize a unified architecture to deliver enhanced safety and immersive digital experiences that are updateable throughout the lifetime of vehicles.

“Working closely with industry leading technology companies like Qualcomm Technologies enables us to accelerate the pace of innovation to keep up with the rapidly evolving trends and needs for sophisticated features,” said Thierry Cammal, alliance global vice president software factory, Renault Group. “As we maintain our position as a leading global automaker, we look to Qualcomm Technologies’ vision and innovation with 5G, the digital cockpit, and the new Snapdragon Ride platforms enabled with Arriver Computer Vision stack that are part of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis to help us accelerate the pace of innovation to help us meet the evolving demands from our customers.”

“As a systems solutions provider, our goal is to enable global automakers like Renault Group to deliver seamlessly connected and intelligent experiences that are safe, intuitive and immersive,” said Nakul Duggal, senior vice president and GM, automotive, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “With a revolutionary platform like the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, we will help advance Renault Group’s goals of delivering the most immersive and safe experiences for their customers. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Renault Group to develop automotive solutions as we advance toward the digital age of the automotive industry.”

“I am delighted to expand our relationship with Renault Group,” said Enrico Salvatori, senior vice president and president Europe/MEA, Qualcomm Europe, Inc. “We look forward to empowering Renault Group, to rapidly embrace the digital chassis era.”

The joint efforts to utilize the Snapdragon Digital Chassis build on top of the announcement last September, where the companies’ highlighted their technology collaboration to enhance in-vehicle experiences for the new Mégane E-TECH Electric vehicle with the 3rd Generation Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms. As a key component of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms provide carmakers the ability to utilize advanced displays, audio, computing and connectivity to redefine infotainment.

Qualcomm Technologies’ integrated automotive platforms, including the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, continue to grow the company’s telematics, infotainment and in-car connectivity businesses, with an order pipeline of more than $13 billion. Qualcomm Technologies’ automotive solutions combine a multitude of leading technologies, scale and experience to support the creation of advanced automotive solutions.
