HERE POWERS SCANIA TRUCKS CONNECTED NAVIGATION SOLUTION

HERE Technologies, the leading location data and technology platform, today announced that Scania, a world class provider of transport solutions, has chosen HERE to power its next generation infotainment platform. Scania is utilizing the HERE SDK (Software Development Kit), HERE location services and dynamic map data for commercial navigation and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) use cases.

The HERE powered connected navigation solution will be available for Scania’s fleet of trucks globally, including in China, Japan and South Korea. Scania is utilizing the HERE SDK’s mapping, routing and search functions that incorporate truck specific road information, vehicle regulations and points of interest. Scania will also build its companion mobile application for drivers with the HERE SDK, offering a consistent experience both in and out of the vehicle.

Beyond navigation, Scania will be using HERE speed limit data to implement an Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) solution, required by European law. The ISA solution for Scania is an in-vehicle feature that helps drivers acknowledge and comply with legal speed limits on any given road. The HERE ISA Map contains explicit speed limits visible on road signs as well as implicit speed limits derived from road signs without numerical values.

The data from HERE includes information on commercial vehicle regulations for truck speed limits. HERE data and services are used to enhance various ADAS functions, such as fuel optimization through predictive powertrain management, which supports Scania’s shift towards more sustainable transport systems. The electrification of Scania trucks will be aided by access to HERE location services including HERE EV Routing and optimization services.

"We chose HERE because of the quality of its location data and services and the ease of integration into our embedded and cloud-based systems," said Peter Vincent, Head of Connected Systems at Scania. "Integrating connected maps into the vehicle lowers fuel consumption and enables new functions for Battery Electric Vehicles and autonomous vehicles."

"We are honored by the trust Scania is showing in our platform to enable many use cases including navigation, ADAS, fleet management and electrification. Together with Scania, we are making truck driving more efficient and contributing to a major shift towards sustainable transportation," said Gino Ferru, Senior Vice President, General Manager of EMEAR at HERE Technologies.

HERE PARTNERS WITH DIGITAL CHARGING SOLUTIONS TO MAKE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING A SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE

>> HERE map to show electric vehicle charging points accessible using Digital Charging Solutions services, making it simple for automotive manufacturers to connect to one of the largest charging networks in the world.

CES 2022 – HERE Technologies, the leading location data and technology platform, and Digital Charging Solutions GmbH (DCS), the E-mobility service provider with one of the largest charging networks in the world, today announced their strategic collaboration to create a seamless experience for drivers of electric vehicles (EV).

DCS provides hassle-free access and simple payment solutions for charging an EV, relying on a network of more than 280,000 connectors in Europe and Japan. DCS is the provider behind many OEM charging services (e.g. BMW Charging, Mercedes Me Charge, Charge my Hyundai) and the fleet solution CHARGE NOW for BUSINESS.

HERE is the leading provider of location data, digital mapping and navigation technologies for the global automotive industry. The company’s EV products and services include HERE EV Charge Points and EV Routing. HERE EV Charge Points references 702 000 EV connectors including attributes such as location, station brand, real-time availability of charging equipment, connector information and pricing information. HERE EV Routing delivers the most optimal route while taking into account the topography, road geometry, real-time traffic information and traffic patterns when planning trips and estimating EV battery charge range. The service takes into account vehicles’ charging profile, energy consumption model, and can be adjusted to different driving styles, loads or weather conditions.

The collaboration between HERE and DCS will deliver global automakers with an end-to-end, seamless, in-car experience for EV drivers. DCS brings its expertise in the field of charging station access, charging session authentication, booking and provision of the respective payment and billing services, while HERE leverages its automotive-grade mapping, points of interest and routing capabilities. DCS services are planned to be integrated into the HERE SDK; and the integration within the consumer navigation application HERE WeGo is under consideration.

"Working very closely with almost every car manufacturer, our charging solutions are already integrated into the vehicles head unit of our customers. Together with HERE as leading mapping and navigation partner for car manufacturers, we see enormous potential to take the in-car charging experience to the next level. Using the enriched data, we can help drivers find a reliable charging station along the route which can be used with their charging service. Drivers will be able to search for the most reliable, the nearest or the most affordable charging station on their way," said Jörg Reimann, CEO of Digital Charging Solutions GmbH.

"DCS and HERE have delivered white label solutions to the biggest automotive brands across the world. By bringing our technologies together, we intend to make finding, booking, using and paying for EV charging directly available from the vehicle navigation system or mobile companion application. We expect this partnership to make our EV Routing even more personalized. It is another important step on our journey to make EV driving a seamless end-to-end experience," said Jørgen Behrens, Chief Product Officer at HERE Technologies.

HERE RELEASES GLOBAL LIBRARY OF TERRESTRIAL LIDAR DATA FOR REAL-WORLD 3D MODELING APPLICATIONS

>> Laser-based measurement at foundation of "digital twin" technology and high-definition mapping applications.

>> HERE Lidar Data available for 50+ countries in LAS and LAZ data formats.

ERE Technologies, the leading location data and technology platform, today announced the company’s global library of three-dimensional lidar data (Light Detection and Ranging) is now available on the HERE Platform. HERE Lidar Data captures millions of kilometers of roadways and their surroundings in high-fidelity across more than 50 countries and territories.

Lidar data delivers powerful 3D modeling capabilities that enable "digital twin" representations of reality. HERE Lidar Data enables users to create a "digital twin" representation of reality with the identification, classification and localization of objects within +/- 2 centimeters of relative accuracy within the lidar point clouds.

HERE Lidar Data supports a colorized feature that infuses each point with an RGB value for improved visual contrast of real-world objects within the point cloud.

HERE Lidar Data use case examples across the public and private sectors include:

> Public sector departments and transportation agencies can access highly precise geospatial data for virtualized infrastructure asset management, road network planning, traffic congestion analysis and federal reporting requirements.

> Engineering, architecture and design firms can receive unparalleled datasets to perform site selection analysis and design impact simulations, with HERE Lidar Data easily integrating with Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.

> Energy utilities and telecommunications companies can conduct centralized pole/wire inventory management and assessment. Lidar data provides the telecommunications industry with the 3D map data used to optimize 5G network planning and design.

"HERE is excited to offer customers across the public and private sectors simplified access to this powerful data set," said Jørgen Behrens, Chief Product Officer at HERE Technologies. "Users can request HERE Lidar Data as-a-service, or they can access the company’s global library of 3D point clouds via the HERE Platform. Our goal is to help decrease the time and cost associated with commissioning traditional data collection surveys."

HERE captures the world’s road networks and urban environments from hundreds of data sources, including its fleet of Lidar sensor and 360° camera-equipped vehicles. HERE utilizes the lidar 3D point clouds as a foundational data source for the company’s various 3D and HD map content products.

At CES 2022, HERE will highlight the capabilities of HERE Lidar Data in conjunction with its partner discussion with Bentley Systems. Enterprises and professionals can leverage HERE Lidar Data using Bentley’s Orbit 3DM, a cloud-based visualization software, to design, build and operate infrastructure more efficiently, reducing site visits and data collection time while accelerating project design and construction time.
